Transition to SchoolTowards the end of the year prior to your child commencing school, the Program Director has meetings with other ECIS staff involved with your child, pre-school and school staff and parents to plan an appropriate transition process for your child. A major focus of the LEAP program is the preparation of children who are transitioning to school, by teaching them many of the specific skills that they will need in the school environment: A comprehensive report is prepared by the Program Director detailing your child's level of development as observed through the LEAP program which will be provided to your child's school to assist them in identifying your child's individual needs and developing appropriate goals. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) has developed a protocol for children beginning school. This information is given to parents in the year preceding school commencement. The ECIS Education Advisor may also be involved in assisting you with the process of choosing a school, funding applications and parent support.
